Fertilization Recommendations

Rapeseed

Rapeseed has increased requirements for nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium, aiming at the production of high-quality seed and oil.

1. Base Fertilization (Soil Preparation – Pre-sowing)

Period: Autumn or early spring (depending on sowing date)
Fertilizer Type: Compound NPK (e.g. 15-15-15 or 20-10-10)
Dosage: 40–50 kg/acre
Purpose: Ensure sufficient macronutrients for proper root development.

2. Nitrogen Fertilization (After Emergence)

Period: 3–4 weeks after sowing
Fertilizer Type: Urea or ammonium nitrogen form
Dosage: 15–20 kg/acre
Purpose: Support vegetative growth and foliage development.

3. Fertilization During Pod Formation

Period: Before and during flowering
Fertilizer Type: Nitrate nitrogen with potassium (e.g. potassium sulfate)
Dosage: 10–15 kg/acre
Purpose: Enhance flower and pod development.

Supplementary Foliar Nutrition

  • Water-soluble NPK fertilizers (e.g. 20-20-20)
  • Trace elements (Boron, Zinc, Magnesium, Iron)
  • Application of foliar sprays to prevent deficiencies and improve quality

Tips:

  • Adequate nitrogen supply is critical for rapeseed productivity.
  • Boron (B) and magnesium (Mg) contribute to proper fertilization and photosynthesis.
  • Soil and leaf analysis is essential for optimal nutrient management.
  • Avoid excessive nitrogen use toward the end of the season for better ripening.
