Fertilization Recommendations

Corn

Corn requires balanced nutrition with emphasis on nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium to achieve healthy growth and high yields.

1. Base Fertilization (Soil Preparation – Pre-sowing)

Period: Spring, before sowing
Fertilizer Type: Compound NPK (e.g. 15-15-15 or 20-10-10)
Dosage: 50–70 kg/acre
Purpose: Ensure sufficient macronutrients for strong root development and early growth.

2. Nitrogen Fertilization (After Emergence)

Period: 20–30 days after sowing
Fertilizer Type: Urea or ammonium nitrogen form
Dosage: 30–50 kg/acre
Purpose: Enhance leaf growth and photosynthetic activity.

3. Final Fertilization (During Node and Flower Development)

Period: Node development and flowering
Fertilizer Type: Nitrate nitrogen with potassium
Dosage: 15–25 kg/acre
Purpose: Support grain filling and improve quality.

Supplementary Foliar Nutrition

  • Water-soluble NPK fertilizers (e.g. 20-20-20)
  • Micronutrients (Zinc, Boron, Magnesium)
  • Foliar sprays to prevent deficiencies and increase efficiency

Tips:

  • The use of stabilized nitrogen forms helps prevent losses and improve efficiency.
  • Phosphorus enhances root development and stress tolerance.
  • Potassium improves grain quality and resistance.
  • Regular soil analysis is recommended for accurate adjustment of the fertilization program.
