Fertilization Recommendations

Fruit trees

The nutrition of fruit trees requires a balance between macro- and micronutrients to support healthy growth, fruit production, and resistance to diseases.

1. Base Fertilization (Autumn / Winter)

Period: October – December
Fertilizer Type: Granular NPK 15-15-15 or 20-10-10 with sulfur and potassium
Dosage: 50–70 kg/acre
Purpose: Restore nutrients and prepare for the next growing season.

2. First Nitrogen Fertilization (Before Bud Break)

Period: February – March
Fertilizer Type: Ammonium nitrogen or urea (preferably stabilized form)
Dosage: 20–30 kg/acre
Purpose: Support vegetative growth and foliage development.

3. Fruit Set and Fruit Development

Period: April – May
Fertilizer Type: Nitrogen fertilizer with potassium (e.g. ammonium nitrate and potassium sulfate)
Dosage: 15–20 kg/acre
Purpose: Support fruit formation and development.

4. Final Fertilization (Preparation for Ripening)

Period: June – July
Fertilizer Type: High potassium (e.g. 0-0-50 or potassium sulfate)
Dosage: 15–20 kg/acre
Purpose: Improve fruit quality, flavor, and durability.

Supplementary Foliar Nutrition

  • Water-soluble NPK fertilizers (e.g. 20-20-20, 13-40-13)
  • Micronutrients (Boron, Zinc, Iron, Magnesium)
  • Foliar spray applications at critical growth stages

Tips:

  • Potassium plays an important role in fruit quality and shelf life.
  • Boron (B) is critical for fertilization and proper fruit development.
  • Regular soil and leaf analysis is recommended for precise fertilization.
  • Avoid excessive nitrogen use toward the end of the season to prevent delayed ripening.
